In this episode, we interview Cathy Braxton creator of Improv for Caregivers. We see many families have questions- what is sundowning? Why do we use that term? How does it affect my loved one? We talk about the role that sleep plays in our older adults' lives and why it's important to decipher between sleep deprivation and sundowning. Cathy shares ways that we can be set up for success when managing symptoms, how we can create more ease in our day with our loved ones, and why it's important to not take these challenging times personally.
Cathy Braxton is the Founder of Improv for Caregivers. She has worked in the aging industry for over 20 years managing memory care units, directing activity programs, case management, support group facilitation, and in-home care. Cathy has completed all of her coursework for her Masters degree in Health Psychology and Gerontology Studies and is a published author and blogger for The Chicago Tribune.
